Come to Work in Canada: The Francophone Mobility Program

Listen to the Content of this Page
Your French language skills are a powerful asset for building your future in Canada. The Francophone Mobility Program offers a unique and streamlined pathway for French-speaking skilled workers to come to Canada, allowing employers to hire you without the need for a complex Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
At Mesidor Immigration, we specialize in helping French-speaking professionals like you navigate this exceptional opportunity to live and work in Canada's vibrant communities outside of Quebec.
What is the Francophone Mobility Program?
The Francophone Mobility Program is a special stream of the International Mobility Program designed to promote the French language and enrich Canada's Francophone minority communities. It gives Canadian employers a significant advantage by allowing them to hire qualified French-speaking talent from around the world through an LMIA-exempt work permit (exemption code C16).
This program simplifies the hiring process for employers and provides a clear path for you, the skilled worker, to bring your talents to Canada.
Is This Your Opportunity? Key Requirements for Candidates
This program could be your ideal route to Canada if you meet the following criteria:
- French Language Proficiency: You must demonstrate intermediate abilities in French for speaking and listening. This is equivalent to a level 5 or higher on the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC). You will need to provide proof, such as results from a designated language test (TEF or TCF).
- A Valid Job Offer: You need a valid offer of employment from a Canadian employer in any province or territory outside of Quebec. The job can be in any field classified under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system, except for primary agriculture occupations in TEER 4 and 5.
- General Admissibility: Like all applicants, you must meet Canada's general eligibility requirements for a work permit. This means you must prove to an officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your work permit, show you have enough money to support yourself and your family, be law-abiding, and not be a risk to Canada's security.
A Golden Opportunity for Canadian Employers
Hiring skilled international talent has never been easier for Canadian businesses looking to grow with a diverse workforce. The Francophone Mobility Program allows you to:
- Bypass the LMIA: Save significant time, money, and administrative effort by using this LMIA-exempt stream.
- Access a Global Talent Pool: Recruit qualified and motivated French-speaking professionals from across the globe.
- Enrich Your Team: Foster a bilingual and multicultural work environment, contributing to Canada's linguistic duality.
Before a candidate can apply for a work permit, the employer must submit an official offer of employment through the IRCC Employer Portal, pay the $230 employer compliance fee, and provide the candidate with an offer of employment number. We can guide you through every step of this process to ensure it is done correctly and efficiently.
Bring Your Family With You
Your new life in Canada is an adventure for the whole family. Under this program:
- Your spouse or common-law partner may be eligible to apply for an open work permit, allowing them to work for almost any employer in Canada.
- Your dependent children can enroll in Canada's world-class schools and universities.
Your Pathway to Permanent Residence
While the Francophone Mobility Program grants a temporary work permit, the experience you gain is a significant stepping stone towards permanent residence in Canada. Canadian work experience and strong French language skills are highly valued in federal and provincial immigration programs, such as Express Entry and various Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), placing you in a strong position to apply to stay in Canada for good.
